Are you looking a non traditional Easter basket idea? Maybe you are tired of buying baskets that don’t get used. Perhaps you would like an Easter basket that is beneficial and can be used through out the year.
If so, then you will love this spring Easter basket idea! You see, my husband and I haven’t gotten into the Easter basket spirit over the years, mostly because I despise clutter. However, we spend a lot of time playing. When Oriental Trading contacted me and asked me to share some items with you I couldn’t resist a fun filled Easter Basket idea that my kids would love.
As a mom of two kids close in age, I have spent years feeling exhausted and worn out. Now that my kids are growing up, having children close in age is an amazing blessing. Our family spends a lot of time having fun and giggling together now. Seeing how quickly they grow up is also developing a desire to treasure each and every moment with them. With Easter it’s easy to give them chocolate as a gift but this year I desired to give them memories instead and their Easter baskets were created with that in mind. Each and every item inside is something that we can play with together.
Using a sand bucket I filled it with toys that I knew would bring laughter to our entire family as we play together. Too often Easter baskets pile up around the house after Easter is over. By using a sand bucket instead my kids are able to play with it in the back yard through out the year and even on family vacations. Since I knew that I would end up buying a sand bucket anyways this year it is actually saving my family money by not having to buy both an Easter basket and sand bucket.
Each year my family spends most of our spring and summer outside, this is partially due to the fact that we live in Georgia but is also attributed to the amount of time that we spend in the garden each year. It’s important to us that our children be able to enjoy their time outside as we believe that it creates stronger childhood memories. Being aware of this fact I decided to give my children some added toys to play with outside including new sidewalk chalk, squirt toys and bubbles. Do you see those bubble wands? Oriental Trading sent them to us and they are super cool, you can check out the unboxing video of them by following this link to get a better understanding of the quality. Please forgive my southern accent in that unboxing video. Truth be told, I do not think I have a southern accent, at least not compared to most people around here. However, you can hear it clearly when I accidentally say “thang” instead of “thing”. Oh well…
Spring is such an exciting time for my family! My parents have a homestead and each year spring signifies new life. Babies are being born all the time over there, the latest editions this year are the baby bunnies. My son adores them! Funny back story, I thought I would get adorable Easter pictures made for this post, with lots of adorable baby bunny rabbits in the background. Nope. My dad was out of town and he gave me permission to go over there and let them out of the cage. I was completely prepared to do so too and spent an entire morning preparing for the most adorable Easter pictures ever. Only here’s the thing, bunny rabbits hop. They are not slow either. Bunnies, chickens, pigs, goats, all of those animals at my parent’s house are extremely fast. Yes, even piglets are fast. So, as I approached the rabbit cage horror scenes started flooding my mind. Images of me running like a wild maniac across their yard started flashing across my mind and suddenly I was in terror of those adorable bunny rabbits. I just knew that I would have to explain to my dad how a horrible loss had taken place. I couldn’t do it, so instead I placed this bright green sand bucket on his grass and took a picture in his yard, without his bunny rabbits.
So, in honor of the amazing man who raised me, in celebration of Easter and to prove that the bunny rabbits are real please enjoy this picture of my daddy. He’s a good guy and I would have cried if dozens of his baby bunnies hopped away from me never to be caught again.
Do you and your family spend a lot of time outside during the spring? If so, I would love for you to comment on our facebook page letting us know what some of your favorite ways to play outside are.
