8 Quick Cleaning Tips For Busy Moms With Super Messy Houses
Life happens and it happens so quickly. It’s no wonder that our houses can get super messy super quick. Between work, school, after school activities, church and everything else it’s a miracle we have time to eat some days. Shockingly enough we tend to toss company in the midst of it all which leaves us screaming our heads off in a panic about cleaning up. Heck, somedays we have to call in some of that precious vacation time just to clean up before company arrives. So, what do you do when you get the phone call saying unexpected company is arriving at your door step in just minutes? You use these 8 quick cleaning tips for busy moms, well maybe they are actually hacks but let’s pretend they are the real deal because after all, they leave us feeling wonderful about ourselves.
1. Fabuloso In The Sink
I love this trick. It makes me feel sneaky because the house smells like I’ve been cleaning for hours. What you do is fill up a sink with hot water, preferable one that is well ventilated for the whole house to smell. A kitchen sink works great. Once you’ve got that steamy water added just pour in a few caps of Fabuloso and in no time the whole house will be smelling squeaky clean, plus people will think you keep your dishes under control. Silly them.
2. Vacuum the Rugs
If you can’t get to any other floors in the house make sure you get to that rug taking up so much space in the room. People always notice a filthy rug. Spray OdoBan directly at it if you think it needs extra TLC. *bonus* spray the curtains too!
3. Pick Up The Toys
Don’t worry about putting them all away. Just pick them up and toss them into some totes or something. You can worry about whether or not the Ninja Turtles are in Barbie’s house later .
4. Clear Off The Mantle
This holds true to the mantel as well. Sure, that hairbow collection that has been staying in the living room doesn’t belong in the same place as the school picture packet that you need to sign but while your company is here they can each find their way to your bedroom. You can put them where they belong later but just clearing off that mantel space will make the whole living room look refreshingly clean. Heck! You might even decide the hairbows really do belong in the bathroom after all.
5. Take Out The Trash
How did you think you would get away with this? You can’t pretend your house is clean if you have a pile of trash mounding next to the trash can because the bag doesn’t have anymore room. Take it outside ASAP!
6. Pull The Shower Curtain Shut
This one is easy enough and yet it makes a great deal of difference. Nobody wants to see your soapy sponge hanging from the bathtub faucet. Cover it up.
7. Hide The Dirty Dishes
Alright. I’m calling her out. My momma taught my sister and I that if you have a sink full of dishes with no time to clean them before company comes over to just shove them into the oven. Make sure to pull them out again though once the guest leave because that can get nasty really fast. Please don’t ask me how I know. *Check out the first tip if you didn’t already.
8. Spot Clean The Floor
You learn with age not to mop before a house full of people come over. Instead, go grab a clorox wipe and get the big spots taken care of.
