Doubt crept into her mind as she sat there with coffee in her hand, debating over whether or not to speak up to a long lost friend. Then she heard him whispering to her softly, “who are you kidding? Don’t you know they will only laugh at you? You’ll never be good enough.”
Her curly hair bounced as she turned away but the voice continued to speak to her, “you are not good enough, you will never be the person you want to be.” Something inside her felt like it was suffocating as tears streamed her face, the voice still speaking softly to her. “You will never be good enough. You will never be that person. You can never be truly loved.”
The words increased as she made her way to the bathroom, everyone in the cafe seemed unnoticed by the heavy weight shadowing her presence. As she opened the bathroom door she was greeted by the giant mirror staring back at her. Her makeup was a mess and the faded outfit hanging from her body matched the smile that had dripped off of her face. Shame spoke to her as she looked away, embarrassed of her own appearance.
Have you ever felt unworthy of love? Have you lost your laughter? Does self doubt crowd your mind reminding you of all that you have done wrong? If so, you are not alone.
I found myself in this very same place not too long ago and God sent messengers into my life to remind me that I am a child of the King.
You see, too often we let Satan sneak up into our lives, we may resist the urge to spend time with him and yet he can be so tempting. Soon, he starts whispering lies into our ears and if we don’t see them for what they are they increase until we can no longer run and hide. Worse yet, is that we start believing them and can only see ourselves as the lies that we’ve been told.
5 Truths For When The Devil Lies To You
1. You are loved
“See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are.”
2. You are strong enough
“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”
3. You are good enough
“But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”
4. You are so powerful
“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes”
5. The story is already written.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”
God desires that you know these things. He desires to see you prosper, to see goodness brought to your life. He doesn’t want you to live a life held down by shame, He wants to see freedom in His name bring joy to your life. It’s vital to your wellbeing that you know when the devil lies to you, that you can determine those words whispered to you are not the truth and that you can defend yourself against Satan and all things evil by knowing that the Lord is the light in the darkness and by taking hold of the promise that there is no darkness in light. God wants to see you and your family flourish with laughter, prosperity, and good times. He doesn’t want you held down by chains of bondage for something that he has already paid the price for – and defeated.
