Planning a trip to ©Disney’s Magic Kingdom this year? If so you shouldn’t even consider skipping out on ©Disney’s Animal Kingdom. This park, while not as popular is perhaps one of the most magically rewarding parks to choose from. To make sure that you don’t skip out and miss some pretty amazing family moments we’ve complied a list of 10 Reason Not To Skip ©Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Trust us, if you do get the chance to go to the Animal Kingdom, you should! The animals in this park need plenty of room and that’s why it’s the largest of the ©Disney Parks, one day simply isn’t enough time to see everything that the Animal Kingdom has to offer and for that reason we recommend park hoppers. You’ll also get plenty of steps towards your fitbit goal at this park and while we recommend staying hydrated it’s important to note that the bathrooms are sparse in this park and tend to keep long lines so if you are pregnant or traveling with young ones it’s a smart idea to go every chance you get.
10 Reasons Not To Skip The Animal Kingdom
Short Lines for Mickey and Minnie Mouse
One look into meeting the famous couple at the Magic Kingdom and you’ll quickly discover why no wait time to meet the couple as they travel on vacation is such a novelty. That’s right, you heard me, no wait time to meet Mickey and Minnie Mouse. If you do happen to arrive when their is a waiting sign you’ll still be better off meeting them here with a ten to fifteen minute wait versus the 60 to 90 minute wait you may discover over at the Magic Kingdom. Also, since the traveling couple is so relaxed you’ll find that you can enjoy some added smiles and laughs with them. This is by far the best character meet that you’ll have the entire time you’ll have on your family vacation!
If you have never been to Broadway but you’ve always wanted to then we can not stress enough how amazing the Festival of The Lion King is. Don’t worry about this show being too boring for young children either, ©Disney has this magical way of entertaining both young children and adults at the same time. The quality here is over the top! Then again, what else would you expect? However the incredible shows don’t stop here, you may be tempted to walk right past the shows such as Flights of Wonder or live entertainment such as Chakrandi but that would be a mistake. Every show and performance in this park is worth the time and the magic here is non comparable.
Lots Of Ways For Kids To Play
Did we mention that there would be a lot of walking? It’s true and children who are already tired from the Orlando sun and then worn out from walking all day tend to get a bit cranky, no matter how much their parents try to keep them hydrated. Once again, ©Disney is magical and fully prepared to help children have the best time possible and sometimes that mean a lot of ways for children to play. You’ll be able to find cooling zones, shaded spots, play grounds and musical play areas all along the way. It’s a good idea to plan on slowing down your pace and letting kids enjoy these areas.
Perhaps you’ve heard that Epcot and The Magic Kingdom were the best places to meet characters. While it’s true that Epcot has an amazing share of characters walking around that’s not to say that the Animal Kingdom does not. The characters that you’ll meet here are unlike the others. Think Tarzan, Pluto, Donald Duck, Baloo, King Louie, Rafiki, the Chipmunks, and even Russell from the movie Up.
Amazing Dining Experiences
Gluten Free? Dairy Free? Nut Free? No problem! The food here is incredible and for those with allergies you’ll think you’ve died and gone to Heaven because once again, the food here is incredible! Tusker House has an entire island just for those with special dietary needs and it’s already prepared and waiting on you to arrive! Let your waiter know upon arrival that you have an allergy and the chef will come out and give you a guided tour but even without the guided tour there is an allergy friendly section waiting for you. If you are at the Tusker House you must try the house juice! You’ll end up wishing ©Disney would sell that to your local grocery store. Not into full dining experiences? No problem! There are plenty of other dining experiences for you to choose from here, including names you already recognize.
Rides like Expedition Everest – Legend of the Forbidden Mountain where the Abominable Snowman jumps out at you may be a bit too scary for younger kids. In this ride you’ll get to see the entire park as you’ll be up so high before the ride temps to throw you off the very top of the mountain. However the kids will have plenty of options available for them as far as rides are concerned in the Animal Kingdom, the Primeval Whir in Dino Land is one of those. This old school carnival style ride is great for those who enjoy the classics such as Mad TeaParty as well as those who enjoy faster rides like the Barnstormer.
Tree Of Life
The iconic Tree of Life is like a giant scavenger hunt and frankly no matter how many times you like at and no matter how many angles it’s possible that you’ll never see all that this tree has in store. Want a close up view of the tree? Go meet some bugs, they’ll take you there.
With 500 plus acres there are plenty of animals in this magic park. You’ll get to see plenty up close as you weave in and out of Gorilla Falls, you can even touch some in the Affection Section but it’s the Kilimanjaro Safaris that visitors leave talking about. This guided tour is worth every penny and more that you’ll spend getting into the Animal Kingdom! Whatever you do while you are here, make sure to spend set some time aside for this guided tour.
Wait? Dinosaurs? You may have felt like you were going into Jurassic Park as you made your way into the Kilimanjaro Safari and then told yourself that was the wrong brand but the truth is, dinosaurs walk these parks. Or they used to. Maybe they still do. Okay, seriously though if your kids like dinosaurs or want to see some amazing skeletons then this is the destination for them and one more reason why you don’t want to skip out on the Animal Kingdom.
