Tracking what you eat is a great way to monitor your weight. While you might find that you have too many calories going into your body it’s also likely that you may not have enough. Too often this is the cause for weight gain in women. While it is easy to eat more than the daily recommended calorie count, especially when eating out at restaurants, it’s very common to remain under the necessary calorie need and therefore putting your body into starvation mode.
It may be tempting to take that number and cut it back some, in good intentions. However under eating leads to serious health complications such as high cholesterol and can even cause you to gain additional weight.
East Methods To Tracking What You Eat
There are some amazing apps out there designed to help you track what you eat. They are perhaps the easiest method out there as many of them have barcode scanning features and you can visually see exactly how much of each food category you are putting into your body. Some of the best apps out there are My Fitness Pal, Fitbit and My Diet Coach. Of course there are plenty more but these are the ones that we’ve tried and know to be great options for those wishing to make major changes in their lives.
Many people are simply unable to loose weight without accountability. This isn’t always due to a lack of motivation either, sometimes people just need additional encouragement. People need to know that they are doing well, especially when they don’t always see the results of their efforts. A scale measures our weight but perhaps the number on the scale has gone up to water retention and not weight gain, a person in that position may need added support to continue their great efforts. If you think that you’ll see better results with accountability consider these support groups as each offers the options of tracking what you eat.
Old Fashion Pen and Paper
Maybe you don’t need the added accountability but are afraid the app method won’t work best for you. Perhaps you fear that being at work and appearing to play on your phone may not be best suited for you. Perhaps you don’t think that you’ll remember to open up the app every time you eat and thus forget what you ate altogether. That’s nothing to be ashamed of, many people fit into this category and for those the old fashion pen and paper method works best. Just print out a food tracker and leave it on your desk at work or on your refrigerator at home. It’ll be there when you need it most.
