I have recently fallen in love.
I mean, don’t get me wrong, my husband is awesome but there’s this other love in my life, tea.
Here’s the thing, I’m from the south, so I’ve always loved tea. Thick and sweet in a mason jar. The kind that you sip on a front porch while watching kids chase fireflies. Any other sort has been a hypocrisy to me up until just a few months back when I went to see my sister. She knew my son and I were having health issues and she said she had just the thing we needed. One sip and I was hooked.
My husband hasn’t joined in on the revolution but we’ve learned to co-op. He sits on his side of the couch with his southern sweet tea in cups the size of my arm and I sit on my side of the couch with my “hipster” tea in petite tea cups just barely big enough to hold.
So, why the switch?
The health benefits are numerous and as some of you may know I have Celiac Sprue, an autoimmune disease, I need just a bit more TLC than a simple gluten free diet. I also suffer from chronic inflammation as well as plantar fasciitis. The inflammation is basically throughout my entire body. Last year I had many health issues and every doctor I saw told me the same thing. Inflammation.
While studies have shown green tea has some anti inflammatory components they aren’t great in number. However, during my quest to lower inflammation throughout my body I have gained a respect for my overall health and how the things we put into our body play a major role in our long term health.
