Do you struggle to take care of yourself? Maybe you are already taking care of yourself but you’d like some health and beauty tips for those busy days to help you feel your best with life gets hectic and crazy?
I think most women can relate to the follow scenario. I spent so much time effort and energy into taking care of myself and learning beauty tips while in high school but then as I grew older and more comfortable in my skin I approached the “take me as I am” attitude. Then came along children and suddenly there wasn’t enough time to even take a shower. As a result to this, I grew insecure in my own skin knowing that I wasn’t taking care of myself to the best of my ability. Now that I’m older and the kids are growing up I’ve found that my skin is far from the same that it was when I was younger.
Suddenly I found myself looking in the mirror and not even recognizing the woman staring back at me. I needed to learn how to take care of myself all over again.
To help you from spinning your wheels like I have in the years past, I’d like to share with you some of the easy health and beauty tips that I’ve learned.
Easy Health & Beauty Tips For Busy Moms
Wash Your Face Twice A Day
Morning and Night. For far too long I was in the habit on only washing my face at night and I was keeping blackheads despite my best efforts of keeping a clean face. Now, I’ve started cleaning my face in the morning when I wake up and at night before I go to bed. I’ve noticed that even though I think I get a nice clean face in the evening that I almost always have leftover makeup and such in the morning. Also, I’ve recently switched face cleaners and I do this place a part into the health of my face. The cleaners that I used to use worked great for me when I was a kid but so much changes as we age. I’ve discovered that using a water based cleaner gives me the best results. My face has cleared up and my skin looks healthy.
Drink Plenty Of Water
I adore my coffee and at one point the same was true of soda. Now, I’m finding that soda leaves me feeling disgusting and coffee just doesn’t give me the overall feeling that I need to maintain my speed throughout the day. Coffee is great for helping me focus and recently I’ve discovered that a nice warm cup of tea can be very relaxing, even in the morning.
What I struggle with is drinking water. There are a few methods that have helped me drink more water. The first method is having a pitcher of water in the fridge with fresh fruit in it. This seems to be a very inviting and exciting way for me to drink water. Best of all, it doesn’t use as much fruit as one would think. Actually, depending on the fruit I can typically just keep adding more water to the pitcher throughout the course of a few days.
The next method is using a water bottle that has measurements on the side. This is the one that I use but it defiantly has some cons to it, like the fact I end up spilling some on my shirt pretty much every day. Because of this, I don’t use a water bottle alone and if you aren’t ready to make that kind of investment I don’t blame you. Finding a good water bottle can be a challenge. However, the other great way I’ve found that helps me keep track of how much water I’m drinking is to drink from a large mason jar. These has the measurements engraved in the side so you never have to worry about them wearing off and they are more or less cheap.
Invest In Brushes
Have you ever stood in the grocery store debating whether you needed makeup or whether you needed food? I have! One of the best investments for my makeup that I have ever found has been good brushes. For far too long I used everything else under the sun. My fingers, Q-tips, the brushes that come with the makeup and many other objects have taken place of brushes through out the years. When I finally convinced myself to buy some makeup brushes (and convinced my daughter that they were for me and not her) it was the best decision I could have ever made! How’s that for an easy beauty tip? Get new brushes and sponges, you won’t regret it!
Don’t Give Gravity A Helping Hand
How do you clean your face. It used to be that I cleaned my face from top to bottom until someone stopped me one day. She told me “gravity is already doing that” and she was right! Now I clean my face from bottom to top.
Paint The Nails
Oh don’t even get me started ya’ll. I hate bending down. How lazy is that? Yet keeping a fresh coat of paint on your nails, especially your toes is a simple way to not only feel better about yourself but to also look better.
Our mothers used to tell us that beauty comes from the inside, they were right! When you are happy it shines all over your face. Not only that but I believe it benefits your overall health.
The days that I spend time with God are the days that I feel my best. Life can be hard and there are times when we may feel too busy to spend that quality time with our Savior but what we end up doing is staying in this rushed mentality of feeling that we can’t slow down and get anything accomplished. Taking the time to actually stop at some point in the day and reading our Bible is a great way for us to remind ourselves that it’s okay to rest, the Lord did. It’s always a great way to charge and refill our inward happiness which then shines out brightly for all to see.
If you think that a devotional could benefit you then I’d like to invite you to read Beauty & The Broken. Beauty & The Broken is a devotional that I wrote during a difficult time in my life, and it’s one that I’m passionate about because unlike many devotionals on the market this one touches on topics that people typically shy away from. Topics such as divorce, depression, addictions, and even prostitution. It’s not a devotional for everyone, I understand that but if you you are going through something and you just don’t understand why God would allow you to feel so broken, then this devotional may be one that you find to be healing.
