Before I begin sharing how to make this unbelievably easy DIY Christmas Sign for your front porch, I want to let you know that some of the products shown were provided free to The Place For Busy Moms by Oriental Trading in exchange for my honest opinion and review.
Have you ever been so overjoyed to share a big secret?
I have! When Oriental Trading contacted me and asked me to become a brand representative for them I wanted to tell you right away, only I had to keep the secret until after everything was set in place.
Well, the time has come and I get to tell you all about it! For years my husband and I have been ordering stuff off of Oriental Trading for the most part everything has been well worth both our time and money. This has been especially true in Children’s Ministry and just general church outreach. Oriental Trading has always had a very special place in my heart. There have been times when brands have contacted me that I’ve never heard of before and typically I’ve turned them down due to the fact that I have never heard of them, let alone used the products. That’s just simply not how I want to do business here at The Place For Busy Moms. However, Oriental Trading is a company that I can proudly represent because not only do they offer a wide variety of items at a cheap price but they also offer a wide variety of faith based items such as this Christmas Faith Wall Decal that is shown in the image above.
You see, faith based items are something that shouldn’t be taken lightly, especially Christmas faith based items. As a mom, I desire that my children know that Christmas is not a time for Santa Claus to come down a chimney but rather a time when we celebrate a Savior who came down from Heaven.
Like most families, life for us is busy and we don’t get much time to share our faith with our neighbors, despite the fact we believe the Bible says that we must be witnesses to our neighbors first. I’m not sure that a sign sitting on a front porch would ever be enough to convict someone of their sins or for them to ask Christ to come into their heart but what I do know is that it could help plant “spiritual seeds”. Ever since I’ve placed this sign on our front porch cars have slowed down to read it. My own husband slowed down to read it. It’s a powerful message and it’s the reason I believe in Christmas magic.
But here’s the thing, I don’t do complicated.
I almost felt like this was too easy but perhaps that’s the beauty of it. It is easy! It’s doable. Trust me, if I can do it – you can do it too because I have very little artistic crafting skills.
How To Make An Unbelievably Easy Christmas Sign For The Porch
Find yourself a big piece of scrap wood to use. I happened to already have this large piece of wood around my house.
*Fun fact* You can do this same project with a large mirror and hang it up inside your house rather than putting it outside on the front porch. You would just need to skip step two if you wish for this go inside rather than outside.
Paint your piece of wood. I forgot to take a picture of this step but I’m sure you have enough imagination to figure it out ;). If you are opting to create a gorgeous indoor sign by placing this decal on a mirror you can skip this step.
The instructions clearly say that the surface must be both cleaned and damp. I agree. In addition to this I would suggest having a tool on hand that you can use to smooth out the surface, allowing the air bubbles to escape.
Skip this step if you are opting for the indoor decor using the mirror.
Adding a clear coat of paint is necessary to seal the sign. This decal is not made for the outdoor elements and the weather changes that happen naturally during the day will cause the decal to bubble back up. By adding a clear coat to this sign you are sealing it for long time use.
Display your work of art with pride! I adore adding decals to mirrors. Of course you don’t have to use a mirror to display an indoor work of art but if you are simply looking for seasonal decor this is a wonderful way to go. Hang your mirror up on the wall for added elegance or display it outside for that extra bit of Christmas magic.
